The WSU Compost Team has been working on compost related issues
for the past several years. Most recently, team members spearheaded
the response to clopyralid contamination in compost. The team is led
by Craig Cogger and Andy Bary at WSU Puyallup.

Newsletter
1996-2000. This newsletter offered practical information on using
compost in agricultural systems.
- Compost
Images
An archive of digital photos of various aspects of agricultural
composting and compost use to assist agricultural professionals
and others in their education programs. Produced as part of the
Compost Education and Resources for Western Agriculture project
with funding from the Western SARE Program.
- WSU Compost Facility
WSU operates a full scale composting facility on the Pullman
campus to recycle organic waste, while providing teaching and
research opportunities.
- Urban Composting
Information on compost for the urban dweller. Includes benefits,
uses, links to pages on how to compost, as well as resources and
contacts for the urban composter.
Compost Education and Resources for Western Agriculture
The Western SARE program funded a project to develop training materials
on agricutlural composting for the western states. The project team
came from University of Idaho, Washington State University, and
Utah State University. Products included two satellite broadcasts,
an additional video, the Compost Images website (see above), the
Compost Connection newsletter (see above), and a compost course
at WSU. Click here

The two satellite broadcasts and final video can be
viewed on-line as videostreams.
Broadcast 1 - Compost: A Tool for Western Agriculture. 2 hr. Focuses
on the production of compost in agricultural settings to address
organic waste issues.
Broadcast 2 - Compost: A Resource for Western Agriculture. 2 hr.
Focuses on the use of compost in agricultural production.
Video 3 - The Future of Agricultural Composting and Compost Use.
2hr. Focuses on future trends in process, product development, innovative
use, and regulation.
Research reports on a variety of organic waste issues, including compost.
Dr. Dan Sullivan has conducted extensive research on compost,
biosolids, and other organic residuals.
USDA National Organic Program. The National Organic
Standards Board Compost Tea Task Force released its report on compost
tea on 4/6/04. The report reviews the state of knowledge on compost
tea, discusses human pathogen risks, and makes a number of recommendations
to reduce pathogen risk while still allowing this emerging technology
to develop. The report
